Amerindian Monuments That Predate African Pyramids

We are told day in and day out that Africa has the world's oldest monuments and civilizations known to man. However, when it comes to the Americas our great Origine civilizations are rarely talked about or acknowledged. America doesn't only have ancient history, it has some of Earths oldest monuments and civilizations. They might not be flashy like the Egyptians but, our culture was built on humility and respect for our ancestral homelands.

1. Poverty Point

With artifacts dating from 1000 to 2000 B.C., this site may be North America's earliest civilized site and is considered one of the continent's most significant archaeological finds. Between 1700 and 700 B.C., it had a complex of Original American ceremonial mounds.

This is one of the country's most important archaeological finds, and possibly the most spectacular and well-preserved in the world.

Ancient Mounds Predate the Pyramids of Egypt

Louisiana has the oldest mounds in the Western Hemisphere, dating back to 4000 B.C. Louisiana has mounds that are older than the pyramids of Mexico and South America, Stonehenge in England, and Egypt's earliest pyramids.

The Ancient City at Poverty Point

Mounds can be found all over Louisiana, but they are most common in northeastern and central areas. Archaeologists from all over the world have studied the mounds of Louisiana to learn more about ancient hunter-gatherer societies.

Scientists estimate that 53 million cubic feet of soil were transferred over the 600-year-long construction of the site. What does 53 million cubic feet look like in reality? We figured it out. The weight of a cubic foot of dirt ranges from 75 to 100 pounds. So we're talking about 3.9 billion pounds of soil, or 1.9 million tons, to be conservative. That's the same as 288,043 African elephants (the world's largest land animal) or eight of the world's largest cruise ships put together. Oh, and if you're wondering how the Poverty Pointers carried the earth, it was with baskets. There's nothing else.

2. 14,000 Year Old Village

During an excavation on a remote island in British Columbia, archaeologists discovered an ancient village that is thought to be one of the oldest human settlements ever discovered in North America.

The 14,000-year-old village was discovered on a rocky spit on Triquet Island, about 500 kilometers northwest of Victoria, Canada. The village is said to be older than Egypt's pyramids.

The discovery of a 14,000-year-old ancient hamlet in Canada may forever alter our understanding of early civilizations in North America. The village is thought to be significantly older than the Giza pyramids, with items dating back to the Ice Age unearthed. The village is one of North America's oldest human settlements, and it correlates to the Heiltsuk Nation's oral history.

On Triquet Island, some 310 miles northwest of Victoria, Canada, researchers from the Hakai Institute and the University of Victoria, along with local First Nations members, uncovered fascinating artifacts. Fish hooks, spears, and fire-starting tools have all been discovered. Researchers now believe a large human migration occurred along British Columbia's coastline, thanks to the discovery of the ancient town last year.

3. Brazilian Pyramids

The Pyramids of Brazil, like their counterparts in Mexico and Egypt, are ancient world wonders located on the Atlantic Coast of southern Brazil. Despite the fact that their purpose is unknown, the Brazilian pyramids were most likely built for spiritual reasons or were directly linked to early forms of spirituality and god worship.

However, the Brazilian pyramids are unique in that they date from around 3,000 BC, predating not only the Egyptian pyramids but also similar structures in Peru and Mexico by hundreds of years. Furthermore, unlike Egypt's and Central America's stone pyramids, the Brazilian pyramids were constructed using very different techniques.

Despite the lack of written records for the Brazilian pyramids, the buildings were most likely erected over multiple generations, meaning that each pyramid experienced various stages of construction before being completed. Furthermore, unlike the Egyptian pyramids, which were formed of large stone blocks, the Brazilian pyramids were made mostly of seashells.

This is not to say that the Pyramids of Brazil were inferior buildings. Many of the ancient structures, however, remained hidden from specialists due to their unique construction, and many of them were misunderstood for waste rubble. Many Brazilian pyramids were destroyed as a result of this lack of understanding.
